David was in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He also served as a Police Officer in Topeka, KS. David was in a local Mardi Gras organization for 25 years. David graduated from South West Technical College as a Drafting Instructor.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marian Hathaway, RI; and his son James Hathaway Holder, Wichita, KS. David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra Pennington Hathaway; his daughter, Tamera H. Anderson, Wichita, KS; his five children, Robin (Steve) Coffey, Happy Travis, Mark Travis, Tracey (Mal) Malinauskas, and Adam Travis; his seven grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsey) Coffey, Katie (Garrett) Zoghby, Trevor Travis, Pvt. Zachary Travis of the United States Army, Sarah Malinauskas, Erin Travis, and Abigail Travis; his three great-grandchildren, Mary Hyland Zoghby, Walker Coffey, and Cecilia Zoghby. David is also survived by his sister, Jane (Ed) Kearney, Coventry, RI; his niece, Pat (David) Hoffman, Houston, TX; his nephew, Steve (Melissa) Kearney, Coventry, RI; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous family and friends in Topeka, KS.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a memorial service immediately following. Inurnment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
