Funeral services for Marian Spencer Lynch, 91, 0f Oxford will be Thursday at 2:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charley Alookaran officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 until 1:30 at Gray Grown Service Mortuary. Mrs. Lynch passed away Friday in Etowah County.
Survivors include daughters Denise Lingle, Ann Lynch, Mary Beth Gambrel (Timothy), sons Timothy B. Lynch (Sarah), Paul R. Lynch, Peter Lynch (Kim), grandchildren Christopher Lingle, Darenda Goodson, Brian Lynch, Sara Lynch, Spencer Lynch (Brianna), Haley Lynch (Shelbie), Megan Gambrel and many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lynch is preceded in death by her husband William R. Lynch and her parents Nelson and Ollie Spencer.
Pallbearers will be family.
She graduated from Philadelphia General Hospital in 1947 with a nursing degree. After moving to Anniston in 1968 she was hired at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center where she mentored years of medical professionals. She was an instrumental part of opening the intensive care unit a long side Dr. Warren Sarrell. Later in her career she became the Director of Emergency and Outpatient Services eventually retiring in 1989 after over 20 years of service. After retirement she served NEARMC through the volunteer services, serving over 4000 hours, later becoming the president of volunteer services.
