Theresa Mary Jamail, peacefully passed away on Monday, the 6th of August 2018 at the age of 89. Theresa built her life around the deep love and devotion she held for her family, friends, and Savior, Jesus Christ. She served as the matriarch of the family, always there to provide strength and support to those in need. Theresa’s presence always brought warmth to the hearts of all those around her.
Theresa was born to Joe and Mary Jamail, she cherished her childhood memories of family and friends growing up on the north side of Houston. Those childhood friendships lasted her a lifetime. Theresa graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston. After an exciting and successful 30 year career with Exxon, she retired in 1984 and devoted her time, efforts and passion to the needs of others. Her charitable work includes the Ladies Charity Club, honoring the legacy of her mother. Theresa was an active member of the St. Cecelia Catholic Church Community, regularly participating in Mass which brought her great joy, comfort and enrichment. Theresa continually placed the needs of her family, ahead of her own desires. She would open her home and heart to nurture her family through some of life’s most challenging moments. Her adoring family, often called her “Saint Theresa”. Theresa loved to laugh, visit with friends and was always ready for a trip to the casino.
Theresa was one of nine siblings and is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Jamail and Mary Kattar Jamail, brothers, Joe, George and Mike and, sisters, Lucille, Helen, Jeanette, Georgette and JoAnn. She is survived by her many devoted nieces, nephews and their families that brought great joy and happiness into her life. Theresa leaves a legacy of love for each family member she touched so dearly. The family is grateful for the wonderful ladies; Sally, Gigi, Claudette, and Arlin, who lovingly cared for Theresa and her family over many years.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with family from nine-thirty until ten-fifteen in the morning on Friday, the 10th of August at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive in Houston. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will follow at ten-thirty and be officiated by Rev. Francis M. Macatangay. Mass will be followed by a mercy meal, after which, the Rite of Committal will take place at 3:00 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
