Marian died peacefully and quietly in her sleep on August 6, 2018 in Auburn, California. She had lived in San Francisco, California where she was born, Hawthorne, Nevada, Mountain View, Los Altos and San Diego, California before moving to Sacramento in 1952.
She was an avid reader, movie watcher and book club member and organizer. Marian started her own little library renting out books to her friends in Hawthorne, Nevada when she was 7 for pennies. She was a charter member of the Page Turners book club in Roseville. She was also an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting with oils and water colors.
When Marian graduated from high school in 1944, she worked for the U.S. Navy as a job order clerk at North Island Naval Shipyard.
She married Robert G. Thompson, a high school classmate and 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1946. She later married Raymond Royce of Roseville, California.
Marian was an interior decorator for 40 plus years and had a business that was operated out of an upstairs suite at the State Theater in Auburn after moving to Christian Valley in 1964.
Marian was the mother of 4 children: Michael, Kathleen, Douglas and David. Grandmother to Elisa Ramsey, Heather Beckham, Chalyse Thompson, Erik and Logan Thompson, Kim Terrill and Stephanie Brawley. Great-grandmother to Tyler and Ava Terrill, and Harper and Ethan Beckham.
Marian was a friend to many and loved by all she knew.
