Camille D. Simpson age 36 of Battle Creek, Michigan, formerly of Albion, Michigan, went on to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was born July 14, 1982 to Gerald and Pamela (Black) Simpson in Albion. Camille attended Albion Public Schools, and she graduated with honors from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Communications. In addition to her studies at CMU, she served as a Resident Advisor, and taught several courses during her graduate program.
Camille devoted her career to serving others in the mental health field, through her employment at Summit Pointe. She worked for Summit Pointe from 2009 until 2018, and she served the agency in several capacities. Additionally, she has previously worked as a columnist for the Albion Recorder.
Camille gave her life to Christ at a young age, and she was a member of the youth group at New Hope Worship Center. She was heavily involved in the youth ministry, to include mission trips to Poland and the Dominican Republic. Camille had a passion for photography, crafts, dogs and other animals, and for advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves. In addition to her work with Summit Pointe, she also volunteered as a victim advocate for Sexual Assault Services of Calhoun County.
Camille was a beautiful, kind, witty, and selfless person who put the needs of other before her own. She had a smile that would brighten any room, a laugh that was infectious, and an incredible sense of humor. You could always catch her wearing beautiful jewelry, as she loved to accessorize her outfits. Camille had an incredible devotion to her family and friends. She loved them unconditionally, and she was truly one of a kind. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart and her sassy personality.
Preceded in her death are grandfathers, Robert Simpson and Calvin Black, grandmother, Hildegard Black, and dog, Simba. She is survived by her parents, Gerald and Pamela Simpson, siblings, Caleb and Samantha Simpson, grandmother, Vera Simpson, Lamar Black Jr. and dogs, Cooper and Zoe.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 12:00pm at New Hope Worship Center at 13600 28 Mile Road, Albion, MI 49224, with Reverend Tim L. Kurtz officiating. Family hour will begin at 10:00am, with visitation to follow at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens. The repass will take place at New Hope Worship Center.
