Jo was born in Sidney on Oct. 12 1949 to Agnes (Pat) and Wesley Anderson. She grew up at 44 Oneida St., Oneonta. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1967.
Jo was the proud mother of Robert (Bobby) Scarzafava and they resided for many years in San Antonio Texas. She returned to Oneonta in 1981 and worked for Schuman Moving and Storage until her retirement.
Jo’s passion has been to serve others through her volunteer work at Saturday’s Bread. She proudly served others for 28 years in this capacity and enriched the lives of those who crossed her path. She continued to serve others in death, choosing to be an organ donor.
Jo’s love for her family was unconditional. She always made an effort to attend family gatherings and loved spending time with her family. The survivors include her son Bobby, daughter- in-law Kelley of Anacortes, Washington. Brothers and sisters-in-law John and Trish Anderson of Hampton, NH, Jeff and Vickie Anderson of Bainbridge, NY, and Rick and Kathy Anderson of Lexington, Kentucky. Sisters and brothers in law, Pam and Dan Pierce of New Hampton, NY, Deb and Don Montrond of Liverpool, NY and Paula Anderson of Oneonta. Many nephews (Dave, Cale, Adam, Chris, Dylan) nieces, (Carrie, Dani-Kate, Candice, Megan, Cassie, Kim, Caiti, Sarah) and great nephews (Aaron and Landon). Jo is also survived by several aunts, uncle and many cousins.
Jo was preceded in death by her mother and father, her first husband John Scarzafava, and her second husband John Terwilliger.
A ceremony celebrating Jo’s life will be held on Thurs, Aug. 23, 2018 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta.
Following the ceremony, the family will greet guests at a light reception. The family will hold a private burial at Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saturday’s Bread, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta.
The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers at the Cardiac ICU Wilson Hospital and especially to Dr. Khan.
She was loved by family and friends and will be sincerely missed.
