Ruby Anne was born in Statesboro to the late Barney Dewey and Ollie Groover Wilson. She graduated from Register High School, where she was the valedictorian of her class. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia, where she received her bachelors of science degree in Business. Ruby Anne was a homemaker and avid gardener. She served in the Primitive Baptist denomination, along-side her husband for over 42 years in Florida, Texas, Virginia and Georgia and also served as the pianist in all of the churches where they served. Ruby Anne was a member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking her coconut cream pies and pound cakes. Her love of Christ and her family were the most important things in her life.
Ruby Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Elder John Brannen Purser and three brothers.
She is survived by her sons, John Brannen Purser, Jr and his wife, Christy of Flower Mound, TX; Philip Ashley Purser and his wife, Connie of Bradenton, FL and Steven Wilson Purser and his wife, Monta Rae of Barnesville; daughter, Susan Lucille Hudson and her husband, Todd of Oneida, TN; eight grandchildren, Amber, Dory, Brannen, Lauren, Scott, Hannah, Aaron and David; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hadassah, Molly and Helen (on the way).
A gathering of family and friends will be held 4 to 6 PM Friday, August, 24, 2018 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 25, 2018 in Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Mrs. Purser will lie in state from 1PM until the funeral hour.
The burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
