Elliot Fineberg passed away suddenly in his 93rd year on August 28, 2018. He was predeceased by his father Morris (M.B.), mother Sadie (Aunt Ted), brother Leonard and sister Helen. Elliot is survived by his loving wife Betty (Bloom), daughter Anita, son Victor, daughter-in-law Sybil (Shore) and grandchildren Lauren and Max.
Elliot was for many years a distinguished member of the Halifax business community as the co-owner of South Park Lanes, the city’s premier bowling alley and pool hall. He was an avid numismatist and member of the Halifax and Nova Scotia Coin Clubs.
In his retirement years, Elliot was an active member of the Beth Israel Synagogue and supported numerous charitable causes.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29th, at 2:00 pm at Cruikshanks on Windsor Street. Interment to follow at the Beth Israel Cemetery.
The Fineberg family will be sitting Shiva at 1470 Summer Street #1403 following the burial. Evening services on Wednesday will be held from 6:15 pm to 8:30 pm.
Shiva at the residence will be held Thursday from 1:00-4:00 pm, and 6:15 to 8:30 pm.; Friday from 1:00-4:00 pm.; Sunday from 1:00-4:00 pm., and 6:15 to 8:30 pm.; Monday (Labour Day) from 1:00-4:00 pm; and 6:15 to 8:30 pm. and Tuesday morning 7:30 am.
The family will get up from Shiva following Tuesday morning services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beth Israel Synagogue in memory of Elliot Fineberg.
