Naomi R. Cozart, age 96, of Northport, Ala., passed away September 2, 2018 at Heritage Nursing Home. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. W. Norris McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Cozart, Sr.; and son, Robert G. Cozart, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Cozart Boone (BJ) of Northport, Ala.; sisters, Marciel Riley-Denton of San Leandro, Calif.; and grandson, Josh McCool (Meaghan) of Northport, Ala.; and great-grandsons, Jakob McCool of Burnsville, N.C. and Colton McCool of Northport, Ala.
Naomi R. Cozart "Aunt Bay" went to be with the Lord, September 2, 2018. She went to Druid City Nursing School (where she later taught) and The University of Alabama to further her education. Naomi retired from the Tuscaloosa VA Hospital. She was dedicated to her family and anyone else that she could. She loved God and served Him every day. She played the piano 46 years for her church and taught Sunday school for the same amount of time. She was the most selfless person. She loved everyone.
Pallbearers will be JB Rinehart, Daniel Rinehart, Andrew Rinehart, Jeremy Swiney, Richard Ellenburg and Gary Boone.
Honorary pallbearers are members and friends of First Southern Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Southern Methodist Mission funds.
