Edward J. Paulovitch, 85 passed away peacefully under the care of Family Pillars Hospice in Allentown, PA on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Edward was born in Elizabeth, NJ. He attended schools in Elizabeth, worked at Singer Manufacturing and later went into the Navy, where he was stationed on the USS Intrepid.
Edward was married to his beloved wife, Antoinette (nee Rocco), for 57 years who predeceased him in February 2017. He was a resident of Union, NJ for 55 years, a longtime parishioner of Holy Spirit Church, and was employed by the Elizabethtown Gas Company in Union for 35 years retiring in 1994. He moved to Allentown, PA 18 months ago. He loved going to Atlantic City to play the slots, playing pool with his four grandsons, attending all their sporting events, and the annual dance recitals of his only granddaughter, Taylor.
Edward was known for his funny quips, which always made everybody laugh. In addition to being the beloved husband to Antoinette Paulovitch, he was the loving father to Donna Congdon and her husband Bob, Doreen Berry and her husband, Ron, adoring grandfather to; Robert Congdon, Christopher Berry, Eddie Congdon, Matthew Congdon and Taylor Berry. Edward is predeceased by his sisters; Ann Sivitsky and her husband, Anthony, Mary Yanchitis and her husband, Henry, and Frances Tybor and her husband, Stanley, his siblings-in-law; Daniel Rocco, John Rocco, James Rocco, Mildred Mari and her husband, Louis, and Emily Dattalo and her husband, Albert. Edward also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, September 9 from 3-7 p.m. at McCracken Funeral Home, Union. A Funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Road on Monday, September 10th at 9:30 followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Edward’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
