Earl Osborne, 71, of Pineville; passed away Sept. 7, 2018. He was born January 24, 1947. Born and raised in Pineville, NC he grew up with his beloved mother and father, Carolyn and Edgar Osborne, along with his siblings Eddy Mac (66), and Carol Dean (64).
Mr. Osborne graduated from South Mecklenburg HS in 1966 and shortly after was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. He began service May 31, 1967 and returned November 9, 1968. During that year, he was shot 3 times, hit by grenade shrapnel, and was a POW for 5 days, and was awarded a Bronze Star for helping trapped soldiers escape to safety.
Once home, Earl met his first wife and shortly thereafter, re-enlisted and moved to Germany. During his time in Germany he became a Golden Glove Boxing Champion for the Army, with a 48 – 0 record after losing his first 2 fights. August 7, 1980, their first son Russell (Rusty, 38) was born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Seven years later, they gave birth to Rachel (31). Earl enjoyed spending his time shooting pool and being around friends and family.
He worked for Blythe Brothers, where he was a road paver for most of his life.
His legacy will be passed on by his children and grandchildren, Madalynn Wray (17), Gabriel Harris (3), Xander Lee (4), and Raelynn Elizabeth (due to be born in December).
His family would like to thank Hospice for making his time a little more peaceful. A huge thank you to nurse Carylon for always being there to bring smile to his face.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11 at 5:00 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC, with a visitation following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
