Nick Runco, 90, passed unexpectedly this past week. Nick was born & raised in the Goat Hill area of Pueblo, where he learned a work ethic that enabled him to become a successful business owner, including his namesake Nick’s Dairy Crème, where he was known as the face of Nick’s Dairy Crème for his friendly interaction with customers.
Nick proudly served two tours of duty in the United States Marine Corps, first in WWII and again during the Korean Conflict. After the Marine Corps, Nick became an avid hunter and was never at a loss for a story of one of his hunting trips or his experiences as a Marine.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip & Lizzie; younger brother, Guy; his beloved wife and partner in life, Doris; & his eldest son, Ricky. He is survived by his sister, Mary Petersen; his children, Nikki (Bill) Taylor, Phillip (Sara) Runco & daughter-in-law, Nancy Runco; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including honorary family members, Derrick (Paula) McCabe, Travis (Jessica) Wodiuk & Mike Trochan.
Nick loved his family tremendously, and lived life to the fullest.
