Born in in Harlingen, Texas on October 24, 1942, he was the son to Guadalupe and Donaciano Leal. He was the youngest of 3 children. He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1962 and entered into the US Navy that same year, where he served for four years. He then had a career as a draftsman and retired from Texas Department of Transportation in 2009.
He was a member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, reading, watching football with his son, and working on cars. He had a great love for music, his country and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife (Maria), two children (Rebecca Black and Michael Leal), grandchildren (Kenneth III, Nathan Rafael and Aubrey), son-in-law (Kenneth Black Jr.) and his older brother, Roberto. He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother (Jose Maria). We expressly acknowledge his TXDOT family, who helped him throughout his medical hardships for their love and support.
