Dorothy went to be with her Lord on Monday September 10, 2018. She was born in Ochlocknee Georgia on August 1, 1927. Her parents were Ethel Waldrep Sanders and Robert L. “Toby” Sanders. She graduated from high school there in Ochlocknee and attended and graduated from the business school in Americus Georgia.
She moved to Tallahassee where she put her education to work as a book keeper. She met and married Millard Hobbs soon after moving to Tallahassee. She worked for over twenty years at the Florida Department of Commerce as a switchboard operator and later in the accounts receivable division. She retired from the State in order to help her husband as the office manager for his plumbing business.
Dorothy remarried after Millard’s death to their dear friend Delmar “Smitty” Smith. Delmar passed away in 2012. Dorothy was a kind and gentle woman with never a complaint or harsh word to anyone.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Ila and Inez, and two husbands. She is survived by her daughter Paula Hobbs Odom and son in law F. Perry “Chuck” Odom, granddaughters Michelle Appleby (Jon), Heather Benedict (Ben), and her darling great grandson Parker Benedict. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home – 700 Timberlane Road on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home – 700 Timberlane Road beginning at 11am.
