Ed was a member of the Presbytery of East Tennessee. He attended Graystone Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir since 1969 and also taught Sunday School. Ed graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity, the University of Tennessee with a Master of Science, and Johns Hopkins University with a PhD in Semitic Languages. Ed taught at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and then Knoxville College for over 30 years. He and his late wife, Sara, spent most of 40 summers in Great Britain. He was an accomplished flautist and very active in the local music community. Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Emma Grohman; sister, Jean Davis Grohman; and parents, Earl and Genevieve Grohman. He is survived by brother, Dr. Don Grohman of Chattanooga, and two sisters in California: Margaret Burns and Elizabeth Rowett. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am October 27, 2018 at Graystone Presbyterian Church, 139 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920. Rev. Dr. Leslie Rust officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A light lunch will follow the service. Graveside services will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Deacons' Fund at the Graystone Presbyterian Church.
