Mr. McKenzie, born on June 30, 1933, in Scottsboro, Alabama, a son of the late, Homer and Lois Hamilton McKenzie.
Though being born in Alabama, Max spent most of his life in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. He spent numerous years serving our great nation in the United States Army, Air Force and National Guard. A commercial photographer by trade, Max owned and operated McKenzie Studios for many years. His lifelong passion was painting and he leaves behind numerous treasured landscapes and portraits.
He shared thirty plus years full of laughter and love with his wife Diane and was heartbroken by her passing in 2015. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister Faye Perez and niece Gina Perez.
Survivors include his sons, Bryan McKenzie (Tammy) of Chattanooga, TN; Kevin McKenzie (Sabrina) of Chattanooga, TN; Ken Goforth (Andrea) of Portland, OR. Daughter, Yvonne Hanak (Matt) of Kennesaw. Brothers, Darryl McKenzie and Kenneth McKenzie; Sisters, Karen Kelly and Nell Arledge. Grandchildren: Phillip McKenzie, Keller Goforth, Emerson Hanak, Josh Hanak, Tony Ransom, and Jacob Kidwell; and two great-grandchildren.
Max was an animal lover, a tremendously talented artist and a kind-hearted soul who loved to laugh. He will be missed.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN with Military Honors.
