George F. Paul, a longtime Yonkers resident now living in Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91. George was a retired Firefighter with the Yonkers Fire Dept, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was born in Yonkers on October 15, 1926, to George and Julia (DeBroskey) Paul. George served honorably in the US Army during World War II as a Sergeant and Sharp Shooter under General George Patton. On February 7, 1954 he married Dolores A. Thalle at St. Mary’s Church in Yonkers, where he served as an Usher and Parish Council Trustee. After retiring from the Fire Dept., he worked as an Inspector at Yonkers Raceway. He was a member of the Yonkers Fire Dept Band Corp, and served as Treasurer for the Mutual Aid Association. George was extremely devoted to his family, and was also a devout fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of Buchanan, his daughters, Pamela Burns, of Buchanan, and Deborah Paul, of Montrose. He also has 2 granddaughters, Courtney and Juliana Burns. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosetta Katzman. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:30AM at St. Mary’s Church in Yonkers, followed by Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
