FOSTER, Janet L., beloved wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, passed on September 30, 2018 after a long battle with diabetes. She was born January 8, 1930 to Golden and Margaret (Gleason) Beekman in Waverly, Ohio. She split her formative years between Pike County and Dayton, Ohio, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. She married James Thomas Foster on September 4, 1948, a union that lasted for fifty years. She worked before children at Standard Register of Dayton and once her boys were in school, at Northmont Schools as a cook, eventually rising to head cook at Englewood Elementary. Janet loved cooking and cookbooks, of which she had a considerable collection, and she expressed her sense of adventure through food. Many Northmont families were introduced to such then-exotic dishes as genuine cabbage rolls and lasagna at team sports banquets. None of her dishes ever returned home to become leftovers. Janet was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Thomas Carleton (Brenda), William Robert (Barbara) and Andrew Clark (Carla), as well as grandsons Robert, Nathan, and Ryland Foster, granddaughters Adrianne and Margaret Foster. Her family would like to thank Janet’s friends and neighbors John and Jeanne Hauck, Bill and Sandra Stinson and Denise Henderson whose care and support made it possible for her to live at home until her final days. There will be a Gathering of Family and friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 West Wenger Road, Friday, October 5, 2018 starting at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of her life at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Janet may be made to the Diabetes Association. Messages of support to her family may be made at: www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
