Born June 28, 1924 in Mansfield, CT the daughter of Clarence and Emma Lewis.
She was united in marriage on July 4, 1947 to Harry C. Searle in New London.
Helen worked at Sheffield's Tube Company beginning 1944 until 1960. She was dedicated to her husband and family.
She enjoyed gardening, and camping with her husband, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Helen spent many years enjoying ceramic classes with her sister Laura. She was an avid Uconn Husky fan. Her husband and her worked together to build the first home on Mary street in Waterford which they cherished. Many of the ceramics were given away to loved ones and will forever be a reminder of Helens generosity.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy “Dutchy” Brown and her husband Rodney of Old Lyme; her three granddaughters Sharon Brown, Cindy Fahnestock, Lori McInereny and her husband Michael; and three great-grandchildren Jacob Reagan, Nicole Reagan, Marlene Fahnestock and her husband Zachary Gray. She is also survived by her 97 year old sister Laura Debarros and, many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Harry, her father Clarence B. Lewis and mother Emma J Rogers Lewis, her brothers and sisters Clarence Lewis Junior, Frederick Lewis, Raymond Lewis, Arthur Lewis, Henry Lewis, Florence Dart, Ella Millette and Dorothy Zawaski.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 4PM until 7PM at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London.
