Samuel “Sam” Naccarato, 90, of Manchester, died October 4, 2018 at the Bedford Hills Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 13, 1928 the son of Matteo and Rosa (Bossia) Naccarato. He grew up in Pittsburgh and was educated in the local school system.
He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, enlisting when he was just 17 and serving aboard the USS Coral Sea and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Upon his discharge, Sam relocated to New England where he met the love of his life, the former Viola “Vi” Cossette and together they shared 48 years of life, love, and laughter, eventually settling in Manchester. He was a hard- working man and was self-employed as an electrician. Sam and Vi could always be found together whether it be dancing, cheering for their beloved Red Sox or trying their luck at the local greyhound race tracks. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend.
He was predeceased by his brothers Anthony Naccarato, Carmen Naccarato and Albert Naccarato and his sisters Christine Rogers, Infante Miller, Gloria Mazzetti, Eva Ambrogio and Raffaela Naccarato.
Members of his family include his wife Viola Naccarato of Manchester, his son Sam L. Naccarato, his daughters Mary Biasiucci and Sue Ann Turnbull, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces Sr. M. Adele Rogers and Patricia Russo as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
There were no calling hours. A committal service with military honors was held on Wednesday October 10 at 2 pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Sam’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101. The McHugh Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with his care.
