Virginia Pauline (Clous) Olds, 86 of Kingsley passed away on Sunday morning, October 7, 2018 with loved ones by her side. Virginia was born September 9, 1932 in Kinglsey to the late Clarence and Anna (Rodes) Clous. She married Lafayette Olds on November 6, 1948 and together they had ten children. Lafayette passed away in 1971 and Virginia married Donald Fashbaugh on September 16, 1978.
Virginia was very civic minded and involved in the community. She had served on the Kingsley School Board, followed her father Clarence in serving as a Grand Traverse County commissioner representing the citizens of the southern part of the county with zest and compassion. She was a member of the DHS Board, Grand Traverse Pavilions Board, and Commission on Aging Board. In 2006 she was honored at the National Cherry Festival as Senior of the Year. Virginia loved 4-H and was leader of the Walnut Acres Club for years. She was a lifelong member of the Hannah St. Mary’s Church. She was also the recipient of the Robert P. Griffin award in 2014.
Family meant everything to Virginia. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her death will leave a huge void in our family.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Lafayette Olds, siblings Maxine Revett and Eugene Clous.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Fashbaugh, her children; Richard (Althea) Olds, Joyce Olds, Victoria (Dean) Edgecomb, Thomas (Cheryl) Olds, Ann (Kim) Morin, Janet (Allen) Sieffert, James Olds (Angie Smith), Timothy (Ronda) Olds, Carol (Steven) Stocking, Karen Zenner (Dean Domnoske); step children, David (Patty) Fashbaugh, Kelly (Ed) Crain; sisters, Vonnie Travis, Kathy Ritter and Paulette Long; 28 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary of Hannah Church in Kingsley, Fr. Gerald Okali officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being offered at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery
