Born February 16, 1932 in Newton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Perry Vance Reitzel and Blanche Hilton Reitzel. She lived her whole life in Newton. Becky was a longtime Member of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden.
She started her working career as a telephone operator and worked her way up to the office as a representative in Newton. Becky worked for One Company and retired from Bell South Telephone Company in Newton. She enjoyed playing Rummy, crocheting, sewing, and working jigsaw puzzles. She also liked watching the Atlanta Braves play. She was a longtime member of the Telcom Pioneers and was a league bowler back in her day. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. She enjoyed going to the beach with her mother and her brother’s family. She also enjoyed going on trips with the COA and trips with her church family.
Our mom married our dad when she was 32 and he had 3 children. She would do without so we could have things we needed. That takes a special person. Now you know why we called her mom.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Eller, Jr; son, Scott Lynn Eller; granddaughter, Tabitha Nicole Spurlin; sister, Ann Carolyn Reitzel; brothers, Kenneth (Kenny) Reitzel, Perry Glenn (Ping) Reitzel, and Harold Reitzel.
Survivors include her son, Sanford (Sam) Lee Eller and wife, Kendra (Kim) Eller of Hickory; daughter, Sonya Eller Spurlin and boyfriend, Tim Eller of Catawba; three grandchildren, Kenny Eller of Hickory, Bryan Eller and wife, Vanessa of Winston Salem, Joseph “Joe” Lee Spurlin and wife, Shelly of Catawba; five great grandchildren, Jesame Eller, Ki Eller and Azrael Eller of Winston Salem, Joseph Gary Spurlin and Faith Gracie Spurlin of Catawba; sister-in-law, Margaret Reitzel of Salisbury, NC; and special nieces.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2018 at Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, with Rev. Charles Worley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
A special thank you for her caregivers who treated her with the utmost respect and loving care, Linda Hedrick, Melody Rhyne, Brandi Queen, Connie Horne, Kelli, Angela Houser, Brandy Slater and many more who were with her through her years of Alzheimer’s.
