Marilyn Sue Kidd, age 68, died October 9 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama with Reverend Ruth Vann Lillian presiding. The family will receive friends at 10 am on Saturday, October 20, 2018 also at Sunset Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, daughter Jessica Kidd (Kevin Waltman), son Benjamin Kidd, grandchildren Calla and Holling Waltman, mother Agnes Fordham, sister Rebecca Bass, brothers Donnie Fordham (Petra) and Mike Fordham (Joye), and her beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sue was a free-spirited vivacious fun-loving individual who always put others first. She was strongly family oriented and was the glue that held the family together. When action was needed, she was the catalyst. She loved cooking, flowers, the beach, walking, telling stories, but most of all she loved being with family, especially playing with the grandkids and giving them presents. She taught elementary school and never had a student she didn’t love and respect. Most of her career was spent teaching at Westwood Elementary in Coker, and we know her legacy there continues.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you buy lunch or a cup of coffee for a friend or stranger. This was one of Sue’s favorite things to do.
