High Point - Jacqueline Hope Owens Sheeley passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday night, October 21st at Westchester Harbour in High Point. She is survived by her only child, Ron Sheeley of Archdale; grandsons, Alexander Sheeley of Charlotte and Ian Sheeley of Raleigh; and her step grandson, Josh Sebastian of Houston, Texas.
“Jackie,” as she was called, had a full wonderful life and was beloved by many that were close to her during her 95 years.
Born January 26, l924 in Norfolk, Virginia, Jackie worked at the Southern Bell Telephone Company and sponsored USO dances for sailors during World War II in her teenage years.
In 1941, Jackie married Louis Daniel Sheeley: their union lasting until his death 56 years later. She lived in Ohio, Oklahoma, Florida, and North Carolina during her long life and worked for more than 30 years for Bell Communication Systems before retiring to North Carolina. Volunteering for over 15 years at High Point Memorial Hospital was a pleasure for her.
In her later years, Jackie traveled to London, Russia, Turkey, Israel, Italy, and many other countries. She was active and attended the Archdale Methodist Church from which she received solace and fellowship.
A service for family and friends for Jackie will be at Sechrest Funeral home on East Lexington Avenue in High Point at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 24th with visitation afterwards and a cemetery service at Floral Garden Memorial Park.
