Bennie was born September 17, 1924 in Stilwell, OK to Jerry Dickson and Cordia (Gibson) Dickson. Bennie spent her days growing up as a happy go-luck young girl and attended grade school in Wahilla, OK. Bennie met the love of her life, William Riley Perse, and the two were married in April of 1943. Soon after, they began a beautiful family and were blessed with one son, Bob Perse and one daughter, Kathy Buttler-Stussy. Bennie worked as a podiatrist assistant for many years. She later began working as a teacher’s aide in Tahlequah where she retired at the age of 88. Her love of children brought her to become part of the Foster Grandparents Program. Bennie enjoyed spending time with friends, talking and telling stories. Bennie might best be remembered for being a practical joker and teasing those she loved. If there was a Hoot-n-Nanny or barn dance, you could guarantee you’d find Bennie there. Her best friend was her fur baby, Josie that could always be found by her side. She found peace in her faith and was a member of Northside Christian Church. That faith remained strong in her even in her final moments. Bennie Lee Perse passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at her home in Wyandotte, OK at the age of 94 with her family by her side. Her bright spirit will be remembered.
