Florence M. (Lamy) Soucy, 95, of Manchester, died October 23, 2018 at the Villa Crest Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after a brief illness. She was born in Westford, Mass. on October 8, 1923 the daughter of Alfred and Rosa (Milot) Lamy and was the eldest of eight children.
Florence moved to Quebec with her family at the age of 2 and was educated in the local school system. At a young age, she worked on the family farm where she learned the value of a hard day’s work. She relocated to Manchester in 1941. She was a devout Catholic and a decades long member of AA although she seldom took a drink. She was an avid bingo player, loved getting together with family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with children. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She was predeceased by her sons Lucien Soucy and Maurice Soucy.
Members of her family include her daughter Lori Curit, her sons Richard Soucy, Rene Soucy and Michael Soucy, her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her sisters Yvonne Milot, Jeannine LeBleu, Marie Burton and Frances Bedard and her brother Francis Lamy as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was be held on Tuesday October 30 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am at St. Anne/St. Augustin Church 382 Beech St. in Manchester. Urn burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Florence’s name be made to the charity of one’s choice.
