Janice Wemple Lindsey took her first eternal breath on October 24, 2018 at the age of 82. She is remembered lovingly by her five children, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Janice was born in 1935 in Cheneyville, Louisiana to Leonidas (1910-1940) and Noble (1911-1980) Wemple. Janice is survived by her 5 children: Robert Lindsey (Kay), Rhonda Morrow (Randy), Regina Kuderer (John), Robin Bueche (Fred), Randel Lindsey (Katy); Grandchildren: Lindsey (Cody), Ryan (Amber), Ashlee (Zane), Jackie, Emmalie, Colt, Wyatt, Aaron, Ethan, Abby, Gabby, Alex, Mikah and Forest; Great grandchildren: Brody, Cade, Gracyn, Cohen and Tatum; Siblings: Rosalie Brown, Mildred Harnish (Jim), Leona Behr (Pete), Richard Rebouche (Cindy) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janice loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed the large family gatherings, which happened often. As an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, Janice could not stay seated or quiet when watching or listening to the games!
At the age of 4 ½, Janice’s father died. She along with two of her sisters, Leona and Mildred, were placed in the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage in Ruston, Louisiana. Janice lived there until she was 16 years old. The Christian education that she received there provided the foundation for a strong faith that guided her throughout her life. Janice’s Church became the center of her life and there she developed lifelong friendships.
Janice worked as an Insurance Assistant at David Ison Insurance Agency for over 27 years until her health issues demanded she retire this past summer. She was a hard worker with a friendly, helpful spirit that her customers appreciated. Working kept Janice’s mind sharp until the very end. Janice was thankful to the Ison family for allowing her to work many years past the age of retirement.
Janice was a great cook of southern meals. Her famous cornbread dressing will be greatly missed this Thanksgiving. Janice loved to shop and was one of the best-dressed Grandma’s around. She never left the house without her hair done, full make-up while wearing a nice outfit with jewelry to match. Janice enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. She also loved to travel.
