Steadfast. That is the word I’d use to describe Frank Sexton. 
He was one of those men who did the simple yet necessary things of which many of us grow weary. 
This quality of steadfastness was reflected in one of his favorite lifelong hobbies…gardening. He patiently planted, tilled, weeded, watered, then finally harvested his wonderful vegetables year after year. Not only that, but for the pure joy of it (and my joy too) he lovingly nurtured many beds of gorgeous lilies and indoor violets. Day after day he tended his plants, knowing that it was the small, consistent work that produced eventual results, not huge champion, occasional efforts. That is steadfastness.
Frank and I shared the love of literature. Over the years we spent many hours discussing books and authors, he being a wealth of knowledge of anything related to fiction, old and new. He, in fact, was first my English professor before being my father-in-law. While taking his English courses, I felt hard-pressed to earn “As” as I was dating his son.
But, perhaps what I appreciated the most about Frank Sexton, was his love and care for my children especially when they were small. He was a very good Grandpa. He played with them; he read to them; he always wanted to babysit. He loved them freely.
It’s been simple things that he demonstrated in life, like simply being available, being generous and living an unhurried life, that have made an enormous impact and is the very definition of a life well lived.

I am happy to say that Frank and his lovely wife, Gwen, were great friends at GBC. I recall the great times we had with the choir at Blue Springs Baptist Retreat. Such fun and wonderful singing together! Frank knew his Bible and was a deacon and Sunday School teacher but his great joy was singing in the choir and he was so disappointed when he could no longer participate. He and his wife raised two great sons who were always there when needed. Frank didn't like conflict but he stood up for what he felt was right.  The last time I spoke with Frank was a short conversation because he  had to feed his cat and his cat was an important pet to him! I'm going to miss him but I know I'll see him in heaven one day--and we'll get to sing in that heavenly choir!

Frank was a wonderful example of a godly man, who loved the lord, music, family, friend, and life itself.
I will miss all those sweet memories of Wednesday’s and Sundays when he would bring delicious veggies from his garden to share with the choir and friends at Gonzalez Baptist Church.
He was one of the last Of the “good guys” I so loved at GBC😇‼️
