Joan worked at a variety of places over the years, including H&R Block, doing tax preparation, Illinois State Police Headquarters in dispatch, Hughes Aircraft Corp., and finally at Maersk Shipping, where she worked until retirement.
Joan loved to read, watch football, particularly the Seattle Seahawks, and to dance. She was a member of the Laramie Station Cloggers for many years, participating in shows and competitions in southern California, including Knott's Berry Farm. Joan had a passion for travel and visited many places around the world, often in the company of her sisters, Jane and Judy.
Joan is survived by three daughters, Kathie (Jim) Reed, of East Peoria, IL, Denise (Tony) Shafer, of Shoreline, WA, Tricia Simpson, of Lynnwood, WA, three granddaughters, Sarah, Emily, and Natasha, and three great granddaughters, Sophie, Maddie, and Elizabeth, Sister, Judy (Larry) Proctor of Coppell, TX and Niece Jennifer Proctor of San Fransisco, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jane, and husband Murphy (Murduff) Forner. A memorial service will be held in Stanwood, WA on Saturday, November 17, 2018, 11:00a.m., at Warm Beach Retirement Community in the Beachwood Room. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in hopes to aid in research and advancements of treatment for Parkinson's disease.
