Marietta “Mary” Thomas, 88, of Greeley, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at The Bridge Assisted Living in Greeley. She was born on September 7, 1930 in Berthoud, Colorado to Henry and Mary “Katherine” Langmacher.
Mary grew up in Berthoud, Johnstown, Milliken and Kersey. She graduated from Kersey High School in 1949. She married Dale Thomas in 1949 and they were married until 2007, when Dale passed away.
Mary worked at Bailey Manufacturing, Woolworths, Kenton Manor and at K-Mart. She also operated You Pump It gas stations. She also worked in the fields with her husband on the farm and she was the family accountant for their custom hay business.
Mary enjoyed spending time at the Evans Senior Center and was a member of the Weld County FCE Club. She loved life and was a very loving and caring person. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve at her home.
Mary is survived by her children, Dean (Kathleen) Thomas, Cindy (Herbert) Merkt and Sandra (Barnard) Geisick; brother, Donald (Carol) Langmacher; six grandchildren, Jennifer Merkt, Artimus (Jennifer) Geisick, LuAnn (Jason) Dill, Christina (Tim) Lange, Matthew Merkt and Benjamin Geisick; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Blake, Madison, Brenna, Vega and Magnum and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Katherine, husband Dale, two sisters, Ellen Huitt and Dorothy Sterkle and two brothers, Victor and Marvin Langmacher.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street, Greeley.
