John R. Stimson, Jr., age 77, of Brewster, MA passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynn Stimson; their four daughters, Karen Fazio (Frank), Jennifer Scully (Michael), Robyn Stimson, and Kimberly Kushner (Jeffrey); and seven grandchildren, AJ Fazio (Morgan), Tom Fazio, Kate Fazio, Tim Scully, Nora Scully, Ali Kushner and Abby Kushner.
John was born in Springfield, MA where he graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1959. He received further education from the Springfield Armory, graduating from their tool and die maker program. John worked at American Saw and Mfg. for many years, retiring in 2001 after years in management.
John was extremely involved and invested in his family. After years on the pool deck when his daughters were youth swimmers, John and Lynn eagerly attended as many of their grandchildren's events as possible, from sports to plays to graduations and other celebrations. He was fiercely proud of his close-knit family.
John and Lynn retired to Brewster, MA in 2002 where they have made many close and lasting friendships. He had several favorite pastimes, like taking people for boat rides around Long Pond, socializing on the beach, and summer lobster dinners with his family. He will be missed at the Tuesday morning breakfasts with the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and at the Bass River Rod & Gun Club, where he served as a certified Range Safety Officer. John was always quick to lend a hand and was fondly known as the guy to call whenever you needed something fixed. He was knowledgeable about many things and happy to share that knowledge with others.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in John's care at Cape Cod Hospital. They were so helpful, kind, and caring.
A private graveside service will be held next spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the Alzheimer's Family Support Center, 2095 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631, an organization which John and Lynn supported.
