From childhood, Carolyn knew that she wanted to be a nursery school teacher. She graduated from the Nursery Training School (NTS) of Boston, now part of Tufts University and was the Director of several nursery schools in Pittsfield, MA. She was also Director of Religious Education at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, PA. As a volunteer, Carolyn managed several hospital gift shops in Schenectady NY, was active in Girl and Boy Scouts as an adult leader and co-Chaired the Membership Committee with her husband at the Unitarian Universalist Church Charlotte. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and bridge player who also enjoyed writing poetry, singing and painting. Carolyn loved to travel, visiting dozens of countries, but her favorite place in the world was always Manomet, MA.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, H. Curtis Lord Jr.; children Priscilla King (Brian), Christopher (Maki), Peter, and Nancy Jackson (Gene); and grandchildren Alexander and Andrew King, Victor and Laurel Jackson, and Kenzo Lord.
Memorial Service to be held on this Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 234 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.
