Glennis M. (Corr) Simmons, 85, of Brookfield, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late William J. Simmons, died Friday, November 2, 2018. Glennis was born on November 13, 1932 in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late James Corr and Isabel Myrtle (Barrie) Corr.
Glennis graduated from Lowell Teachers College now known as Lowell University and University of Bridgeport with a Master’s in Education. She taught in Westford Massachusetts and Williamsport Pennsylvania before moving to Ridgefield Connecticut in 1965. She worked for the Ridgefield School system until she retired.
Glennis loved to read, garden, draw and paint as well as spend time with her animals. Her great love was working with all types of fabric. She spent most of her time quilting and was a member of various Quilters Guilds in the area.
She will be missed by her daughter, Wendy Filmer, her husband Jim, grandsons, Andrew (Kate) Filmer, Stephen (Kara) Filmer and Dan Filmer, and her great grandchildren, Nate Filmer and Harper Filmer.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5pm - 7pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
