Joe is preceded in death by his father, Col. Aaron Albert Garrett, Jr. of Longview.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his sons Jessie and Brandyn Garrett; brothers Albert and David Garrett; mother, Sylvia Jo Riley, of Dallas, Texas; and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Joe was born in Tyler, Texas, in 1963. He graduated from Longview High School in 1981, and attended Kilgore College. Joe worked for many years as paint and body technician as well as a machinist.
Joe was a Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time on Lake Cherokee. Joe was regarded as a kind soul by all those who knew him. He attended Alpine Church of Christ.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 W. Harrison Rd., Longview, TX, with Leonard E. Riley, Jr. officiating. A time of visitation with his family will follow the services in the coffee room of the funeral home. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
