Lewiston – Rita B. Faucher, 90, of Lewiston, passed away on Thursday November 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born in Auburn, Maine on August 25, 1928, a daughter of the late Louis Philippe Belanger and Delina (Coulombe) Belanger. She was a dedicated housewife who also worked at Shapiro’s for over 15 years. On November 27, 1954, she married the love of her life, Philippe Faucher and together they were happily married for almost 30 years until his death on September 28, 1983. She was previously a member of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn before moving to Lewiston and becoming a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed crocheting many beautiful afghans for family and friends over the years. She especially loved the holidays, entertaining family and friends, and was so proud of her Christmas tree which had over 180 ornaments all meticulously placed.
Rita is survived by one brother-in-law, Robert Potter and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister: Constance Therriault and brother-in-law Emile Therriault.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at The Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul in the lower church in Lewiston. Committal services will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
