Dorothy Frances Goodwin Minshew was born on January 15, 1923, in Alexandria, and she passed away on November 4, 2018, in Birmingham. She was a long-time resident of Anniston, where she worked at Saks Junior High School for several years. She was employed by Lee Brass until her retirement.
Mrs. Minshew was a faithful lifelong member of Blue Mountain Baptist Church-where she served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher and choir member.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William Horace Goodwin, and later by her second husband, Harlon Minshew. She is survived by her son, James Franklin Goodwin (Niena) and her step daughter, Vicki Chandler (Jerry). She is also survived by her three granddaughters: Kathryn Dain Byrd (Beau), Julia Frances Gillis (Shawn), Jennifer Leigh Schmidt (Nate) and her step-granddaughter, Tessa Chandler. Dorothy has seven wonderful great grandchildren: Walker Byrd (Sarah), Carter Byrd, Caroline Gillis, Ava Gillis, Elliott Schmidt, Owen Schmidt, and James Schmidt.
Funeral services for Mrs. Minshew will be Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Rev. James Cohorn officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
