January 26, 1926 in Phillipsburg, Kansas to Herman and Lydia Dusin. When Alvin was young he moved
to Kersey, Colorado with his family. He served in the Army during WWII from 1944-1946 in the Pacific
Theater, where he received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/Bronze Star as well as several others medals.
Alvin married Betty Williams in June 1949, they had three children, Linda Deibel of Las Vegas, Nevada,
Karen Dusin of Kersey, Colorado and Alan Dusin of Eaton, Colorado. He was a member of the Kersey Fire
Department (33years), the VFW and the Moose. He served on the Platte Valley Fire Protection District
Board, the Kersey Board of Trustees, the Kersey Housing Authority Board, was a Boy Scout leader and a
4-H softball coach. Alvin worked at Sober’s Gas Station, Kersey Elevator and retired from Freeman Truck
Bodies. He also worked part time as Kersey Town Marshall.
Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends. He also enjoyed showing his
children and grandchildren how to fish and hunt. Many weekends were spent exploring the Rockies
with his family. After retirement he also enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty throughout the Rockies
and on many other excursions.
Alvin is survived by his daughters Linda Deibel and Karen Dusin, son Alan (Debbie) Dusin; three
grandchildren Troy Deibel, Corey (Linsey) Dusin and Kandis (Clint) Geldert; two great grandsons, Andrew
and Jacob Deibel. He was preceded by his parents, wife Betty, sister Alma and brothers Floyd and
Robert; son-in-law Roy Deibel and mother-in-law Hazel Bullard.
Celebration of life will be at 11:00 am, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Platte Valley Fire District Foundation.
