Richard “Dick” S. Foster passed away on Monday morning, November 5, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Pauline Foster, brothers Wayne and Alan; sisters Dawn, Leona and Katherine, his first wife Arda Mae Foster, daughter Rachel (George) Snow and grandson Pete Vermaat. After losing Ardah his wife of 40 years in 1998, Dick remarried and is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Irene Foster. Dick is also survived by his daughter Robin (Joel) Vermaat; granddaughter Jennifer (Eric) Stermer; stepdaughter Lillian “Polly” (Duane) Johnson and their son Wade; stepsons Don, Gene and Doug Griswold; his sister Lorraine; step-sister Jackie, and many nieces and nephews. Best known for a strong work ethic and devotion to his family, Dick spent a lifetime at various jobs in New York and southern California, working in Steel Mills, factories, building mobile homes and his own business laying hardwood floors. Dick finished his career with Elliot Manufacturing in Hillcrest, NY. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and most of all his daytrips with Irene. Dick was a devoted, caring and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 2-3:30pm with a private family service to follow. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
