Joyce Ann Jerke, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Thursday, November 2, 2018 from dementia with Lewy bodies. Joyce was a long time resident of Northern Colorado, most recently residing in Greeley. Born in Clay Center, Kansas on December 22, 1941, she was the daughter of Harry and Lois Multer.
Joyce moved to Golden, Colorado as a young girl and was educated in the Golden Public Schools system. Earning her B.A. in History from Colorado State College (UNC), she was an active member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and met her husband Charles Jerke during this time.
Charles and Joyce were married June 1964 in Golden, Colorado, and subsequently moved to Cleveland, Ohio to pursue a career in teaching. She was highly thought of as an educator by the staff and students at Lincoln High School. They relocated back to Colorado in 1968. Joyce continued her love of education, establishing a private business providing English as a second language services to various corporations, including Coors Brewing and Cobe Laboratories.
She also had many adventures assisting on the Jerke family farm raising and selling Christmas trees. Her many interests included literature, biking, photography, gardening and volunteering. She was an active member of the LaSalle Presbyterian Church.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Charles Jerke, her three children, daughter, Stacey McCaul and husband Conor, son LTC Kurt Jerke (USA) and wife Katie, and their son Mark Jerke, as well as her grandchildren Sean McCaul, Cade Jerke, Shea Jerke and Megan Jerke. She is also survived by her sister Kay Dalton, as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by parents and her brothers Richard and Roger Multer.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the LaSalle Presbyterian Church, 51 Church Street, LaSalle, Colorado.
