LEXINGTON – A Service of Witness to the Resurrection for David Murray White, 94, of Lexington, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Columbia Presbyterian Community of South Carolina.
Mr. White was born in Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada on March 30, 1924 on a dairy farm and passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Parkridge Hospital. He was the son, the middle child, of the late William Arthur and Eva Elizabeth Murray White. He was a veteran of the Canadian Air Force and served overseas in the UK during WWII. In his forty-four year business career, he served in human resources and manufacturing management. Although he received a Presidential Commendation from President Gerald R. Ford for his work with the National Alliance of Businessmen, his greatest achievement was the countless number of younger protégés he mentored. Many of whom became like family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Fairley White of Lexington; daughter, Cynthia E. Vanderberry of Madison, MS; son, John D. White (Jenifer) of Cayce and five grandchildren, Cameron, Logan, Katie, Lyza, and Kelsy. He was proud of his family and, particularly, of his grandchildren.
Elmwood Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Community of South Carolina in Columbia, 700 DaVega Dr., Lexington, SC 29073.
