Marguerite attended St. Jean Baptiste through high school in Manhattan, NY. She was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral, and of the Evansville Museum. Marguerite was a talented painter and artist, participated in art shows, and loved dancing and reading. She loved a wide range of music including opera and the New York Philharmonic.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, William F. Durkee; granddaughter, Katelyn Beck; son-in-law, Hank Beck; and 4 siblings, Michael Butler, Rosemarie McGettigan, Ann Stisser, and Daniel Butler.
Marguerite is survived by brother, Paul Butler (Cecilia) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Claudia Beck, Heidi Tromley (Tim), Nancy Herbert (Chuck), Martha Garvey (Norbert); sons, William Durkee (Nancy), David Durkee (Sharon); grandchildren, Alexander and Christopher Beck, Kyle, Sean, and Shannon Durkee, Kristen Burnett, Joshua and Colin Durkee, Liam and Evan Politz, Kathleen Fuller, Caleb and Kelsey Herbert, Amber, Zebulon and Josiah Garvey, and Alanna Garvey Kivland; 16 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 Lodge Ave., Officiated by Father Theodore G. Tempel, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave.,
