She was born the oldest of two children to Bart Seman and Norma Malesani on November 5, 1932, in Sacramento, California. Her family lived in Elk Grove, California until 1947, then moved to Madera. Agnes graduated in 1950 from Madera High School, and in 1952 began her 42 year career with Bank of America. It was at the Bank of America Madera Main branch that she met her future husband, Richard (“Dick”) Atwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 34 years. She is survived by her sister Barbara Granruth, children Richard Atwood, Jr. (Fawn) and Kathy Atwood (Denise); nephew Alan Paul Granruth, Jr. (Tari), and grandchildren Jordan, Elizabeth, Caroline and Shonlyn.
Agnes will be remembered for her love of animals, always keeping a water bowl filled for the neighbor’s pets as they were strolling by her house. She adopted many and even recently enjoyed the company of a chicken named Sophia. The flock of wild turkeys known to the neighborhood knew just where to come as she also kept them fed. She is also survived by her many grandpets.
Her interests and passions were gardening, opera, visits to Sea Ranch, and various shopping adventures. She was an active participant in the Los Lagos Garden Club. Her faith took her to St. Mary’s Parish, where she was an active member of the congregation. She will also be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and mischievous nature.
Family and friends are invited to attend her service on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Parish, 1333 58th Street, Sacramento, CA 95819, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of their choice.
