Van was born on July 15, 1934 in Amarillo, Texas, to Ina Young Hall and Van W. Hall Sr. After high school, he left home to become a Red Raider at Texas Tech. He pledged Phi Gamma Delta, made lifelong friends, and graduated with an engineering degree in 1956. During college, Van met a girl from Amarillo, Stella Diane Thomas, who was also at Tech, and that meeting would change his life forever. They were lucky to share each other’s lives and love for 61 plus years. Van enjoyed a career in the aerospace industry at Vought Aircraft (LTV) until his retirement. Van’s life was centered around his wife, kids, and lots of dogs. Van and Diane adored the sweet disposition of collies so much that raising and showing them became a lifelong hobby. He was an active board member of Fort Worth Collie Club for decades. He also enjoyed tennis with his buddies at Colonial, yearly fishing vacations to Colorado, golf, riding his tractor, and watching Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks games.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Diane Hall, his son, Kelly T. Hall and wife, Sharon; his daughters, Kim V. Hall, Allyson D. Hall; grandchildren, Tyler J. Crum, Carlye W. Crum, Berkeley W. Dienes; great grandchildren, Tyler J. Garza, Jackson J. Crum.
