Jerry Folden, 76, of Raleigh died on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Denver and Margaret Folden (nee Gover). A graduate of Akron University, Jerry had a long career at IBM, retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong lover of the arts and a patron of the NC Symphony, Opera and Ballet, as well as the NC Museums of Art and History.
Jerry was an accomplished amateur actor with the Raleigh Little Theatre and a founding member of The Cinema, Inc., www.cinema-inc.org, one of the oldest continuing film societies in the nation. Jerry was a true renaissance man, adept in many skills ranging from rebuilding engines to intelligent discussions of the fine arts. He also had the heart of a teacher and always strove to pass along his knowledge and passions to his daughter, grandchildren, and others. Although he only had one child, he will always be known as "Daddy" to many. Jerry will be missed for his contagious laugh, generosity, and positive attitude about life.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Powell Folden; daughter, Heather Ann Folden of Raleigh; brothers, Gene Folden of Boca Raton, FL and Gary Folden of Largo, FL; grandchildren, Denver, Corbin, Miller, Helena, and Levi; and three step-children, Powell, Ward, and Kip Baggett.
