Barbara Tsipouras (63) died peacefully in her home Monday, November 26, 2018 after a long battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma. Barbara was born on May 23, 1955 in Torrington, daughter of Joseph and Henrietta Palach. She is survived by her husband Petros, her son Alexandros, brother Henry Palach and wife Elaine, sister Diane Skoczylas and husband Bill, niece Kristin Palach and husband Shawn Witt, and nephews Michael Skoczylas and Bryan Skoczylas. Barbara lived a meaningful and highly productive life fueled by her insatiable curiosity and joie de vivre. Her professional endeavors ranged from being an ICU nurse at Waterbury Hospital to a senior administrator at the University of Connecticut John Dempsey Hospital to Human Resources Director at Ikonisys, Inc., and finally becoming a health and wellness coach. In the process, she touched the lives of many people helping them as a caregiver, manager, or colleague. Barbara was goal oriented, and an exacting task master, as many will attest, but her intelligence, compassion, kindness, and acceptance of other people’s opinions and feelings were the key elements underlying her professional success. All these elements were present during the last twelve years when she battled an incurable malignancy, adenoid cystic carcinoma. Barbara approached her illness with the fierce determination of a fighter, and she never allowed it to take control of her life. Barbara left with no regrets, she travelled extensively in all five continents, met interesting and exciting people, read widely, was always surrounded by wonderful friends, and raised an amazing son. Hers was a life well lived!
