Sharon M. Brock was born on April 15, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa, the second of four children to Roy C. Brock and Marcella J. (Devlin) Brock. She grew up and lived her life in Davenport, graduating from West High School in 1961.
Sharon worked in a variety of occupations throughout her life including Schlagle Drugstore after high school. She went on to attend the Stewart School of Cosmetology where she became an instructor before going to work as a hairdresser at Venture in Davenport and eventually moving to work at the Handicapped Development Center until she retired in 2008. Sharon was a warm and loving person, with a ready smile and a hug for friends and family. She was a good friend, a wonderful aunt, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and a devoted partner. Throughout her life she enjoyed many things such as cooking, camping and fishing, and spending time with those she loved. She was a warm and comforting presence, a light in this life and she will be deeply missed by those that loved her most. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Roy A. Brock, and sister-in-law, Dixie Brock, as well as Bobbie Boyette. Sharon is survived by her life partner, Kat Brock, her loving son, Matt (Stef) and grandsons, Tyler Brock and Cobey Brock, by her brothers, Gary (Patricia) Brock and Ken (Lorrie) Brock, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Visitation will be held at Runge Mortuary on Saturday, December 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Service of Remembrance at 12:00 p.m. in the Runge Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery,, Davenport, Iowa at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Camp Courageous in Monticello, IA.
