Marcina Jeannette Cicutto was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on April 12, 1931 to Emma (Skinner) and Ted Nation. She had an older brother Frank and a younger sister Wanda. Jeannette met John Cicutto in Ottumwa, where we was working. John was a boilermaker in Local 83 for 75 years. They married Oct. 28, 1949. John told Jeannette's dad, Ted, "don't worry about Jeannette, I love her and I will take care of her" and he did for 68 years.
They lived in Westwood, Kansas where John built their house. John always made sure Jeannette got back to Iowa for Christmas. They traveled through many snow storms. John got hurt on a job in Iowa fracturing his back in three places. Jeannette became a seamstress sewing for others to help bring income into the home and was able to stay home to take care of her daughters and husband. She enjoyed making her daughters and niece matching clothes.
In the 70's Jeannette started working at the University of Kansas Hospital as a nurse assistant on the Mother/Baby unit and worked their until she was 75 years old. Jeannette made many lifelong friends at KU. She traveled with some, made dolls and crafts with others. Jeannette had many leisure interest. She played the piano, she enjoyed working in her yard, she had beautiful flowers and a fish pond. She loved to decorate her house both inside and outside. She liked to go to music shows in Branson, craft shows, collected Barbie dolls, Ginny dolls, Precious Moments and other dolls. Jeannette made beautiful porcelain dolls and made their clothes. She made many lifelong friends at doll class. Edie, her sister-in-law and Jeannette was always looking for a new craft idea they could make. Jeannette made Sharri's wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses and the men's suits for Sharri's wedding. She made Christmas ornaments in her later years to give to her friends and family. Jeannette loved to cook and bake. She won a prize in a contest with her apple pie. She would cook several times a week for her family and friends. She spoiled her son-in-law Steve with home cook food whenever Dianna was gone. She stayed in contact with her high school friends and cousins visiting them at least twice a year in Iowa.
Jeannette was very thoughtful and giving to others. She was a wonderful mother devoting her life to helping her family in many ways. Jeannette would take her daughters to the stables to ride their horses. She was an animal lover. The family had many dogs and cats through the years and even a squirrel monkey. She loved her grandsons, Bryan and Bleu. She and John helped raise Bryan while Dianna and Steve were at work. She spoiled Bryan with love, making him whatever food he wanted. She provided activities for him and Grandpa John to do. She loved her grandson Bleu, helping him in any way she could. Bleu said she was his biggest supporter. She went to Nashville Tennessee often to visit and help her daughter Sharri. They visited Opryland, Graceland and many other places. She adored her great grandchildren Camdyn and Jake. John and her looked forward to seeing them, watching them play, laugh and sing songs. Jeannette was very proud of her entire family.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Ted and Emma Nation, her brother Frank and several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and two nephews. She is survived by her daughters Sharri Morrison of Nashville Tennessee, Dianna and son-in-law Steve Moser of Roeland Park, Kansas, two grandsons, Bryan (Brittany) Moser, Bleu Eves, great grandchildren, Camdyn age 4 and Jake age 2, her sister Wanda Renfrew of Ottumwa, Iowa along with many nieces and nephews and one dog that she loved, Teddy.
Jeannette was a big Elvis fan, collecting Elvis dolls. She always said she wanted the song, "I Did It My Way," sung by Elvis in her funeral. Jeannette did a lot of things her way.
