Martha "Marty" Tait Terzian , age 94, was reunited with her beloved Jack and son Chuck on December 1, 2018. Marty was born in Valdosta, GA Sept. 7, 1924 to Mary Jacobs & C D Tait, the 2nd child of 6. After attending Blackstone College for Girls, Blackstone, VA. Marty met a handsome young Army Air Corps Lt. while working in the credit department at Thalheimers Dept Store in Richmond, Va. She said she knew the minute she saw his eyes, she would marry him. He flew off to Europe to fly his P47; and they married, October 15, 1944, a few short days after his return as an escaped prisoner of war. As is common in military families, they were moved frequently, at least every 4 years. Marty was the perfect Air Force wife, excited to explore yet another new place - her favorites being Alaska, & Buenos Aires. Most of her life she was a stay at home mom to her 3 children. Shortly after being transferred to Abilene Dyess in 1961, she entered the work force working the longest at Fanous Jewelers where she was sought after for helping guide customers to the perfect gift. After her retirement, Jack & Marty doted on their Cairn Terriers and travel.
Marty's spirit was what set her aside. She loved people, and they loved her - never did she meet a stranger. She was a conversationalist with stories galore to share. Come in, get comfortable, and set awhile. She was sassy, witty, determined, intelligent, fun loving, & trend setting. A woman of many talents who was a great innovative cook, a den mother, costume designer & seamstress, dancer, entertainer, master of word puzzles, computer games, & handwork.
Marty was predeceased by her parents and 4 of her siblings, her husband Jack and younger son Chuck. Left to rejoice in her life are her son, Robert and wife Alicja; her daughter Toni & husband Larry Wellhausen (who proclaims her to have been the best mother in-law ever), grandchildren John Egner and wife Pam; Samantha Egner Teixeira; Bree and husband Benjamin Perez; Jacob Locke and wife Rachel, great grandchildren Julia Teixeira, and Elizabeth and Matthew Egner, Ian and Adalyn Perez, Lily & Olivia Locke, Hines Wellhausen, along with her beloved siblings Mary & Robert, & many cousins, nieces, & nephews.
Her last few years were spent at Covenant Place before she was moved to Hendrick Hospice Inpatient. The care she received has been beyond measure, and we will be forever grateful. Appreciation to Home Instead for providing several helping hands. Many thanks also to her gentle, kind caretakers, Candy Torres (also her best friend) and Egypt Butler. Both loved her and met all her needs with grace and kindness.
A celebration of her life well lived will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:00pm, Elliot-Hamil, 5701 Hwy, 277 South.
At her request, memorials may be made to Taylor Jones Humane Society, 2301 N. 3rd Abilene 79603 or Wylie Christian Church, 6250 Buffalo Gap Rd. 79606
