Pate, beloved son of Peyton and Lynda McGahee went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 3, 2018.
He taught us how to love unconditionally. One of his greatest passions was being a greeter at Kiokee Baptist Church for 20 plus years. He greeted everyone with a big smile, hug or handshake. A special needs Sunday school class is named in his honor.
Pate was a 1988 graduate of Harlem High School and was loved by his peers. He learned to cane chairs at the Augusta Training Shop. He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs fan and Harlem’s, Lady Dogs softball team.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Tommy McGahee, WB and Lena Mae Bates and by his uncle, Benny Bates.
Pate is survived by his parents; beloved sister, Anne Tucker and brother-in-law, Rod; his precious niece, Lillie Streets; grandmother, Mildred McGahee; cuz and great friend, Lee Couch; multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
Thanks to his caregivers, Jessica, Taylor, David and Hospice nurse, Walter.
A celebration of Pate’s life will be held, Wednesday, December 5, at 3:00pm at Kiokee Baptist Church, 2520 Ray Owens Road, Appling, conducted by Reverend Wes Gardner and Phillip Knox. In honor of Pate, red and black clothing or your favorite Bulldog attire may be worn. A time of visitation will be held at the church following the service in the sanctuary.
