Don was born in Fall River, the son of the late Amelia (Pitera) and Antone Amaral of Birch Street, Fall River. Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeanne M. (Thornton) Amaral. He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Marie Monaghan of Pennsylvania, and his sons Kenneth and Jeffery Amaral of Arizona. He had nine grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Don also leaves behind his brother, Robert Amaral, and wife (Rosemary) along with a large, loving, extensive family.
Don was a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School and Rhode Island School of Design. He was employed by Bechtal Engineering for 30 years, a career he enjoyed. He and his wife traveled extensively across the country and the world, they settled in South Carolina for 21 years before returning to their home town.
He loved to fish, golf, and spending time with his family and friends at the King Phillip Yacht Club. He also enjoyed watching sports and was the biggest Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Don had a wonderful personality and made life-long friends. He had a fantastic memory for past and facts. He was a caring and supportive role model for his family, who loved him. He was considerate, kind, and made a positive impression on everyone he met. He will be forever missed.
